The boys' tennis team finished up it's season with a 1-4 loss to the Martinsville Artesians in the opening round of the Mooresville Sectional last night. Coach Briones had the following to say about the match and his seniors: "The match was almost identical to our regular season match. Luke Hutcheson at #1 Singles lost in straight sets, giving his all but not able to overcome his opponent. Luke has been with us for four years and we will definitely miss him! William Schurtter at 2 Singles also lost in straight sets but I can't say enough about his work ethic and dedication to our tennis team. I'm looking forward to his senior year. Aiden Brinkman at 3 Singles struggled in his first set but I'm proud of the way he fought back and won the second set. Aiden fell behind in the third set tie-break and just couldn't overcome his opponent. The number one doubles team of Grant Jackman and Brayden Pollock lost in straight sets, but the match went back and forth all evening. In the end, the ball just didn't bounce our way. Number two doubles, Robert Emmerich and Jackson Webster, got the lone win in three sets. They easily won the first set, but struggled in the second only to fight back and win the third in a 10-6 tie-break. "We're going to miss our seniors Hutcheson, Jackman and Pollock and I can't thank them enough for their efforts. Even still, I'm looking forward to the future of Eagle tennis with our younger players!"
