Despite the high temperatures Saturday morning, the Eagles came away from their match at Brown County with a team win - their first of the season. Luke Hutcheson at 1-singles as well as Grant Jackman and Brayden Pollock at 1-doubles struggled through their matches and lost in straight sets, though not for lack of effort. The senior members of the team gave it their all but could not overcome strong Brown County opponents. William Schurtter and Aiden Brinkman at 2- and 3-singles, respectively, made quick work of their matches and won in straight sets. Therefore, in dramatic fashion, the team competition came down to the 2-doubles match. Jackson Webster and Robert Emmerich (both freshmen) won the first set 6-4, but Brown County took the second set 4-6. In the third set the young Eagles fought back and won 6-3, securing the match and team win for South Putnam.
