The Clay City Invite proved to be a great learning experience for the girls' team. After a few days of cooler weather, we were rudely reminded that summer heat isn't completely gone yet. The girls had to race first, and it was a tough battle from start to finish. Junior Elise Kendall didn't let the heat hold her back, and she was once again the leader of the team with a strong top-ten finish. For the boys' race, juniors Gabe Feltner and Landon Chew led the way with an impressive 1-2 finish. Gabe was the individual winner after having raced alone at the front from start to finish. Landon had a serious battle on his hands and closed out his race with a strong finish to secure second place. Thanks to great performances from all of the runners on the team, SPXC boys were able to finish the night in third place.
